April is a very busy month for seniors at Rancho. Acceptances for college and scholarships are well underway. Preparing for college life is no easy task. Seniors at RBV have support from many staff members, whatever their needs.
Here in the library, we help prepare our seniors for college by teaching them a strong foundation in information literacy. In other words, we prepare them to be good researchers and judges of content.
This month brings a review of these skills through the senior controversial subject essay. The RBV library subscribes to an excellent database that supports this assignment - Points of View (from EBSCO). Senior English teachers are bringing their students into the library for a presentation on the use of this database and the print materials available here.
As the Longhorn Librarian, I am very honored to play a role in preparing our seniors for their adventures in college. Knowing how to research and use the resources available in libraries is a transferable skill that I trust they will remember next year and into their futures.
