It seems these last few weeks of school are going to be somewhat out of the ordinary. We have endured a dangerous firestorm that caused a lot of stress and disruption to our lives. Our author visit and B&N book fair were cancelled. We returned to school surprised to find that the new carpet was, in fact, installed in our absence. We lost a few more hours trying to make the room somewhat functional, so that we could be open for our last three days of the school year. Yes, sadly, that is right. The library only has three more open days.
Textbook time is upon us. On Friday, we will transition the room from a beautiful library to a textbook warehouse. When we return to school after the Memorial Day weekend, our class of 2014 will begin their final exams. The week 27-30 May is the last week for seniors to clear their records in the library and textbook room. All seniors must have everything returned and all fines paid by Friday in order to receive caps and gowns on Monday June 2.
The last day of the school year is Thursday June 5 - this is also the last day for all other students to return their library and textbook items and pay fines. Please do not wait until the last minute. And above all else, do not wait until registration time in August. When you do this, the lines are very long and, there is more work for everyone involved.
We can do this, Longhorns. Let's wrap up this school year on an up note. Return all of your materials on time!
Thanks,
LL
